Science Literacy

The teaching of Science in developing countries is a milestone to technological inventions. It is imperative that the epistemology and ontology of science is emphasized in teaching in order to achieve science literacy. Science literacy is not about learners memorizing contents which they then reproduce in answering examinations but it is about understanding the nature of science.
Two areas in the nature of science includes:
  • there is no absolute truth in science
  • the laws and theories and principals are not static
  In understanding the above nature of science, teachers experiences a paradigm shift in their method of teaching science so that they produce critical graduates of education system. students should therefore be given opportunity to discover and  learn on their own with the aim of making them independent. Through this the learners interact with each other with the teacher 's role being to scaffold the learners to allow learning to take place.

  1. It is true about theories and principles are dynamic. Educators are to be aware of how the learners learn better. The world needs scientists who are well equipped to solve problems in their environments. Science has made the world to be very attractive to human lives.

    1. with the use of ICT in teaching and learning things have become easy but some teachers are now misusing it in steady of using it as tool for enhancing understanding of concepts to learners they are using it to watch pornographic films .

  5. there is no doubt beyond that ict is a key role in enhancing understanding of scientific concept the only thing that can make this happen is through empowering teachers on how better to integrate it in teaching these subjects. what teachers are doing is to find video and other tools from the internet that can enhance their teaching but they can not create their own so if empowered in this way the teaching of science subjects will be like exciting like going to watch a football match between arsenal and Manchester united. if you agree with me now say helooooooooooo
